This workshop covers
the eight content areas which are tested by the National Counselor
Exam which comes from the National Board for Certified Counselors.
All the theories and techniques, and those authors and practitioners
associated with those theories are included. You will find
over 1200 issues and concepts in this workshop. Many examples
are used to explain complex concepts, especially in the appraisal
and research (statistics) sections.
There are 300 comments,
suggestions and explanations in this on-line workshop that
you will not find in the Study Guide for the National Counselor
Exam. Every year I receive feedback from many counselors
who have taken the exam and I have included many of their
specific suggestions about the exam and preparation for it.
In addition to
content material on which the exam is based, the workshop
has a detailed explanation of the National Counselor Examination
including information about the content and context (work
behavior domains) of the exam questions. Additional workshop
features include a 160-item Practice Exam, Study Tips, Exam
Taking Tips, ACA Code of Ethics, and a list of references.
The Practice Exam contains items that match the distribution
of content items on the National Counselor Exam and is scored
automatically for immediate feedback.
The workshop also
includes a number of pictures and graphs to help explain the
material. In addition, there are fourteen audio presentations
of material which also enhance understanding. The audio portions
are also presented in text format for those who do not have
audio capability.
A discussion forum
for messaging between online workshop enrollees is available.
Participants can react to others' questions and comments and
present their own questions which others may address. Workshop
participants may establish contacts for group study possibilities.
Dr. Helwig will
monitor the discussion forum messages and offer direct feedback
as circumstances allow.
There are many
internet links throughout the workshop which will serve as
direct sources of additional information helpful in exam preparation
and related professional issues.
You get a workshop
in your own home or office -- to be completed on your time
as you can. No travel or related expenses.
