CACREP Graduation Requirement Delayed

Last year the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) announced that beginning in 2022, only graduates of Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) would be eligible for National Counselor Certification. This summer NBCC announced that they were moving the date forward, to 2024. This was in response to the CACREP decision that programs accredited by them would not need to be at 60 semester or 90 quarter hours in length in order to be CACREP accredited until mid-2023.

Further information is available on the NBCC website. Look for Counselor Resources, Newsletter. The policy change was delineated in the August 2018 issue.
