Dr. Helwig,

I could not pass up an opportunity to let you know that I passed the NCE last week.  I know you get a lot of these types of emails. Well, here is why I feel it necessary to share my story. I graduated with my Master’s in Counseling. I had every intention of becoming licensed. Life got in the way every time I tried. Some of the obstacles were pretty traumatic. I ended up becoming an administrator for a social service agency. Here thirty (30) years later (yikes!) I still felt a yearning to fulfill the dream of becoming licensed.

After using the pandemic shutdown to take the classes that are now required that were not in 1994, I was approved to sit for the exam. Self-doubt, anxiety, and determination along with your study guide were what assisted me. I purchased a lot of other recommended materials but they did not work for my learning style.

Given the mental health crisis and need for more licensed professional counselors, I feel called to help others on their journey to licensure. Thank you!
